Our wildly popular Stage Door Cabaret Series, sponsored by Huntington Bank, returns with five spectacular shows.  This series features emerging artists performing in an intimate night club atmosphere, with both the artist and the audience on The Midland’s stage.  All seats are $27.50, and will be on stage in tables of four.  Ticket price includes an appetizer buffet which will start one hour prior to showtime; a cash bar will also be available.  

Johnsmith

The Stage Door Cabaret Series opens with Johnsmith on October 2, 2008. As a solo performer Johnsmith totally opens up and bares his genuine self on stage. His music has been described as uplifting and filled with integrity and soul. His songs and voice go straight to the heart, because that's where they come from. Johnsmith has walked down the roads that made him whole, and when he brings that onstage, he connects with folks.

Due to the early sell-out for last season's cancelled performance (the Blizzard of '08), we are pleased to announce two shows by California Guitar Trio. With stunning virtuosity and a sly sense of humor, this trio covers a whirlwind of instrumental styles fusing classical rock, blues, jazz, world music, progressive, as well as, the quintessential California musical genre, surf music. Significantly crossing over in the progressive, acoustic and classical music scenes has earned them a rabid following and wide notoriety. Notably, CGT music was featured on the television coverage of the 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2004 Olympics, and also on CBS, NBC, CNN and ESPN TV programs. This show is supported by MedBen.

Recognized as "the Norman Rockwell of songwriters," Lisa Biales brings her crystal pure voice to The Midland's Stage Door Cabaret. Presenting a blend of Americana, Folk, and Blues, her soulful lyrics will be sure to entertain and captivate audiences. Her first album of original music, Music Box has been called "a work of art" and her second album, Chasing Away The Blues is receiving international attention on the folk and blues scene. Lisa showcases her talent for writing songs that are perfect for her voice.

The Local Girls

The impeccable three-part harmony of The Local Girls takes the Midland stage on January 16, 2009. Covering a century of American songwriting, The Local Girls create a warm, rich and varied musical event, bringing good-humored and haunting harmonies to songs from the silly to the heartbreaking. Their sound rings on swing tunes as well as bebop, western, blues and standards, having won them fans across the country. The Athens, Ohio-based trio is local, but the sound is universal.

Peter Mulvey

The final Stage Door Cabaret Series event will take place on February 13, 2009 with critically acclaimed guitarist, Peter Mulvey. The first thing that strikes you, when listening to Peter Mulvey, is how complete his sound feels. He is an incredible singer-songwriter with guitar skills to match. The speed and precision, the rawness and restraint, the delicate touch in the way he plays the guitar reveal a fullness and range of effect that are rare. Peter Mulvey's work reflects music with a complexity of detail, along with a bedrock of solid technique.
