James and Jamesy are London's three-time Impresario Award-winning physical comedy duo, and O Christmas Tea is their most beloved creation. Picture a very proper English Christmas tea party. Now picture that tea party going spectacularly sideways when a runaway teacup floods the entire world. Now picture two very committed Englishmen sailing across imaginary seas in a very tiny paper boat while the audience becomes the crew, the captain, and probably the sea itself. That is roughly the plot. Roughly.
Called "complete and utter fun for all ages" by CBC, O Christmas Tea tours more than 60 cities every year, filling theatres with the sound of grown-ups laughing as hard as their kids. Somewhere in the space between Monty Python, Mr. Bean, and Dr. Seuss, this is physical comedy at its most inventive, wordplay at its wildest, and imagination cranked all the way up.
One tiny note on the crew list: this show is a joy for just about everyone, though the very littlest passengers might want to sit this voyage out. The pace is joyfully unhinged and the jokes fly fast. Older kids, teens, grown-ups, and grandparents, all aboard.
